Differentiating features of ISO-BLOCO ONE
The ISO-BLOCO ONE has clear unique selling points and differentiating features compared to competing products.
A multi-functional sealing tape is not just a pre-compressed, impregnated joint sealing tape in various dimensions. The requirements of the EnEV, DIN 4108-7 and not least the RAL specifications in the Installation Guide are more complex, the requirements for joint sealing are clearly defined.
- Air-tightness
- Heat insulation
- Weather protection
- Sound insulation
These 4 properties must be satisfied. The principle that the inner seal must have a higher sd-value than the external seal also applies, so that the vapour diffusion is not negatively affected. DIN 4108-3 specifies the precise limits. A vapour pressure gradient of >6:1 is called for time and again in various publications. This means that the vapour pressure for the internal sealing should be at least 6 times higher than the external weather protection level.
ISO-BLOCO ONE stands out against competing products on many technical points which will be described in detail below.
The first clear differentiation is the use of a film membrane on the inner side of the sealing tape. The seal then achieves a defined sd-value (vapour-tightness) of 25 m. The vapour diffusion gradients of the ISO-BLOCO ONE is defined and tested as >50:1. Most of the competitors do not state this value as it usually lies only slightly higher than that of the external seal, e.g. sd-value of 0.58 m with a description of simply “interior denser than exterior” on compeditors technical data sheet. Joint sealing tapes must be tested in accordance with the new NORM DIN 18542:2009. Often no new testing is done here.
Thanks to the patented PE film, the ISO-BLOCO ONE has an unbeatable a-value of 0.00 m³/[h•m(daPa)n]. A comparison with the competition here shows that these strips usually only have an a-value of <0.1 m³/[h•m(daPa)n].
ISO-BLOCO ONE is a unique multi-functional sealing tape made from foam and with BG1, BGR testing and RAL certification. Some competitors only have BG2 approval and BG1 tests are not available. This is another significant qualitative distinction. In addition, the competition often has no BGR testing for the interior use of the tapes. Therefore, they have not undertaken any testing in accordance with DIN 18542:2009. If B1 (fire resistant) is needed for public tender documents, then you can also check this off in comparison to the competition.
Construction connection joints are not normally parallel and therefore the user needs a high functional area for the joints. ISO-BLOCO ONE can be used for joints of 2-12 mm, 3-18 mm and 5-30 mm. Air-tightness and driving rain resistance are guaranteed for the joint widths specified. Competing products fall behind here as only joints of 5-10 mm or 7-15 mm as well as 10-20 mm or 15-30 mm can be sealed. This means that for uneven sized joints, 2 or even 3 different tapes must be used by the competition. The initial thickness of ISO-BLOCO ONE is very thin, just 2 to max. 5 mm leaving enough room around the frame to install it in the reveal. The tape only takes up a small amount of space and therefore reliably seals the joint. ISO-BLOCO ONE has successfully passed sound insulation tests up to a reduction value of 56 dB (in 10 mm joints).
All requirements of DIN EN 18542:2009 are exceeded. ISO-BLOCO ONE is the one strip solution for 100% perfect window sealing.
